Show Notes for If We Will, He Will
Welcome to Pursuing true North’s Truth of the Week Series! I am Catherine King and I’m Jenny Cioto!
This week’s Truth of the Week – 2 Chronicles 7:14 – If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. NKJV
~ Solomon’s wisdom history
~ God came to Solomon in his dreams with this very straight forward message. Interesting to note, God is talking to HIS people – not the lost or the unsaved – but to His people called by His name. It makes sense though, doesn’t it? Why would God ask the lost to get their lostness together – I think I made up that word?!
~ Reading commentary and looking up the Hebrew for the word pray, we find that the way it’s used here has root definition in the word judge and intercede.
~ As God’s people we need to make our assessments of our current state of living and search for our sinful ways. Once we do that – and if you can’t seem to see it ask God for wisdom on where you need to turn and repent- we continue to seek God and pray. We need to not only pray for ourselves, but make wise judgements on those around us and pray with the wisdom and insight we are given as to intercede for our brothers and sisters, as well as the lost.
~ Maybe, just maybe this is God’s way of healing our land here in the US. I can’t see why we would be an exemption to this amazing promise!
~ As Christians, we aren’t to be yelling at the world to stop acting like the lost world acts – because honestly why should they if they don’t believe what we believe? We are to be cleaning up our own acts, seeking God’s face and interceding on behalf of the brethren and the lost.
Challenge: Are you seeking God’s face? Are you praying? Are you turning from your wicked ways?
